We’ve been working to make diabetes management better for a long time. We launched our company in 1999 and our first sensor in 2004. When we first started out, the only way to measure glucose levels was to fingertstick. It gave us a snapshot, not a story, which made it difficult to understand our glucose levels and trends over time or feel in control of our diabetes.

Decades Of Diabetes Experience

1999

Dexcom was founded based on the groundbreaking research of Dr. Stuart J. Updike and George P. Hicks in San Diego, California.
2004

Dexcom’s short-term sensor programme was created.
2007

The drive to innovate led to the development of the Dexcom SEVEN® system, the first FDA-approved CGM for up to seven days of continuous use, changing the landscape of Diabetes monitoring.
2012

Dexcom introduces its next generation CGM system, the Dexcom G4® PLATINUM in the US and internationally.
2016

The G5 Mobile CGM System launches to The International market as the world’s first mobile CGM system with both Android and iOS compatibility.
2018

Dexcom introduced Dexcom G6, the first real-time CGM that requires no fingersticks^* or scanning.
