Are there any Android/OS settings I should or shouldn’t use with my Dexcom ONE app?

Here are some recommended settings for Android devices, to help ensure you get all Dexcom ONE app alerts and sensor readings. Visit Dexcom.com/compatibility for a list of devices and operating systems compatible with the Dexcom ONE app.

The location of each setting may be different depending on your device and operating system version.

 

Don’t Use These Phone Features

These phone features can prevent the app from working. The app can’t alert you about these phone features.

 

App Pause

On Android 10 and above, Pause temporarily disable apps. Using Pause with the Dexcom ONE app stops all alerts, and sensor readings.

How to exit App Pause?

  1. Long press the Dexcom ONE app icon on the desktop or in the app drawer
  2. Tap the pause button to edit App Pause

 

Focus Mode

Focus Mode disables apps when it is on. Using Focus Mode with the Dexcom ONE app will prevent you from seeing all alerts, and sensor readings.

How to turn Focus Mode off?

  1. Go to phone Settings
  2. Find Digital Wellbeing
  3. Turn off Focus Mode, or confirm Dexcom ONE app isn't on the Distracting Apps list

 

Battery Saver Mode

Battery Saver Mode disables the background data. When it is on, your alerts will be delayed.

How to turn Battery Saving Mode off?

  1. Go to phone Settings
  2. Tap on Battery
  3. Turn off Battery Saver Mode, or choose the highest battery performance available

 

Do Not Disturb

Do Not Disturb silences all Dexcom ONE alerts. Do not use Do Not Disturb to hear your alarm and alerts.

How to turn DND off?

  1. Go to phone Settings
  2. Turn off the most restrictive Do Not Disturb or Total Silence

 

Require Permissions

You must allow these permissions for the app, or it won’t work as designed.

Notifications

Notifications let you get sensor readings and alerts on your phone. Allow notifications for the Dexcom ONE app to work.

How to turn Notifications on?

  1. Go to phone Settings
  2. Find Dexcom ONE in Apps
  3. Tap Notification
  4. Turn on Notification

 

Battery Optimizing

Battery Optimizing prevents the Dexcom ONE app from running in the background when you don’t have the app open and displayed on your phone screen. When it is on for the app, your alerts may be delayed.  Turn off Battery Optimizing for the app.

How to turn Battery Optimizing off?

  1. Go to phone Settings
  2. Find battery optimizing setting (may be called something different on your device)
  3. Follow your phone's instructions to turn off battery optimizing for Dexcom ONE

 

Background Restriction

Background Restrictions prevent the Dexcom ONE from running in the background when you don’t have the app open and displayed on your phone screen. When it is on for the app, you won't get alerts and sensor readings while the app is running in the background. Turn off Background Restrictions for the app.

How to turn Background Restrictions off?

  1. Go to phone Settings
  2. Find background restriction setting (may be called something different on your device)
  3. Follow your phone's instructions to turn off background restriction for Dexcom ONE

 

Location

Location must be turned on to use Bluetooth. Android requires you to give the Dexcom ONE app location permission all the time to use Bluetooth. If you don't, you won’t get alerts or sensor readings. Dexcom does not use this permission to track your location.

How to turn Location Permission on?

  1. Go to phone Settings
  2. Confirm device Location is on
  3. Find Dexcom ONE in Apps
  4. Tap Location Permission
  5. Tap Allow All the Time

 

Bluetooth

The Dexcom ONE app uses Bluetooth to connect with your sensor. You must keep your phone Bluetooth turned on to get alerts and sensor readings.

How to turn Bluetooth on?

  1. Go to phone Settings
  2. Turn on Bluetooth
