Heather is no common Warrior! What most people don’t do once in their life, Heather does regularly… skydiving*! She is also a mother to twin boys, and started a Type 1 diabetes support group for individuals in her Tennessee area. Her goal is to comfort and encourage other people with diabetes that they are not alone!
Favorite Dexcom Feature: “My favorite Dexcom G6 feature is definitely the Share app that my husband has on his phone. I am a very brittle diabetic that goes from severe low to severe high so quickly. With the app, my husband can see† where my glucose levels are, and call me to make sure I’m awake and such.”

Dan is a zoo aquarist, giving dive shows and presentations to school groups. He explains his Dexcom system to the kids and how it helps him with his diabetes, and encourages kids with T1D that they can be anything they want. Dan uses his Dexcom G6 to know his levels before and during his dives, and when he is approaching a low! He isn’t the only member of his family relying on a CGM. Wearing Dexcom G6, Kaden feels confident in himself. As a 12-year-old he is involved with football, baseball, drama club, choir and is a member of National Junior Honor Society. He is a straight-A student who aspires to someday work for NASA! Superstar Maxim Speed is taking the world by storm with his undeniable soccer skills. Maxim began playing in Hawaii when he was only three years old, and after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age seven, he has used his Dexcom system to stay healthier with his diabetes, focused and determined to chase his soccer dreams. In his spare time, Maxim enjoys training for soccer and spending time with friends and family. Among his athletic accomplishments, the young athlete has raised $100,000 for diabetes charities and plenty of awareness among his social media followers.

Brooks Sweet is a four-time College All American lacrosse star, MVP of the 1982 USA Lacrosse games, voted Player of the World, and has lived with diabetes over 45 years. With the help of Dexcom CGM, he has been able to maintain impeccable heath and has been a lacrosse coach for the past 25 years! Brooks educates hundreds of young athletes every year through his own lacrosse camps.

Ragan is a competitive cheerleader who doesn’t let her diabetes get in the way of her athletic achievements. Ragan is a ‘flyer’ on her cheer team, who has received a bid to nationals and world cheer competitions. She is a rockstar young athlete who balances school, life, loved ones, celiac disease and Type 1 diabetes. She wants to become an endocrinology nurse, training and educating others on disorders of the endocrine system such as diabetes.

Erin is a 20-year-old nursing student aspiring to work in diabetes healthcare. She is an active member on a search and rescue dive team* run by her father, a fellow T1D, and serves as a Patient Care Tech and Nursing Assistant in a high school special education program. Erin is also a professional horse trainer and rider, teaching lessons and managing equestrian summer camps. She is a guiding hand to her younger sister, who is also a Dexcom G6 user. Erin strives to continue encouraging and educating others in the diabetes community, and wishes to use her personal experience to care for others in her position.

Jonathan is a 26-year-old Baylor Graduate, competing in track and field and cross country throughout his college career. He was even awarded the Big XII Scholar-Athlete of the Year in cross country! Now a medical student at the Stanford School of Medicine, Jonathan is designing a Diabetes 101 course for medical students. He hopes to teach practical skills for treatment and educate students on up-to-date research.

Adventurist Paul enjoys traveling, climbing, mountaineering, trail running, hiking, and backpacking deep into the Sierras. He plans to take small groups of Type 1s on educational hiking trips, where he can share techniques and solutions for people with Type 1 diabetes in the backcountry. Paul encourages other Type 1s to get outside, get off the grid and show the world that they can thrive in the outdoors!
